The season of Advent is here. It is the four weeks leading up to Christmas Day. It is a time of preparation and waiting. Christians are encouraged to prepare their hearts once again for the coming of the Christ Child born so long ago and laid in a manger. It reminds me of the words from "O Little Town of Bethlehem,": "O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray, cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today."
Advent is a season in which we open our hearts to receive the gifts that Christ offers to us--love, joy, peace, and hope. Jesus comes to offer salvation for us individually and for the world. If you have never received Christ into your heart, you are invited to welcome Him into your life. If you have received Christ before, I encourage you to renew your sense of wonder in Jesus, who is God with us, the Word made flesh.
