William Paul Young, a Canadian author, self-published a book in 2007. Young's book The Shack became a New York Times Bestseller. This past Spring, the book was turned into a movie that has gripped many people. The story features a man who faces a family tragedy. The tragedy sends the man into a crisis that culminates with an unusual spiritual journey filled with many questions and doubts and ultimately a sense of peace.
This book and movie are the basis of a five-week study beginning Sunday, September 10 at 4:00 PM. The study seeks to address many questions and struggles that most people have related to crises and how God is related to the tragedies and the people affected by the them. Segments of the movie are to be shown each week, followed by a discussion. The study meets at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall and the community is invited to participate.
